Kelp in the Driveway

So Cal has been seeing some really crazy weather in the recent weeks. Rain, extreme winds and finally HAIL--that's definitely not the norm at just a half mile from the beach. We were ready for the unexpected. But this piece of kelp, somehow deposited in the driveway, was too much. Then we heard about the tornado warning. A waterspout, basically a tornado over the water, must have picked up this piece of kelp, flung it high into the atmosphere and carried all the way past the highway. At least that's the theory.

Kelp in the driveway has always been regarded as a sign of good luck.
