Lytro Cameras: Capturing a Field of Light

Ever heard of a light field camera?  You will.

Imagine a device that can capture every ray of light that comes through it's lens, whether it's in "focus" or not.  Curiously, the notion of focus doesn't really come into play for a light field camera -- Since you are capturing the whole spectrum, you can focus after the fact.  It's like a living photograph; a 3D moment captured in time.  Confused?  Check this out:

Click on an out-of-focus area in the photograph, and watch it come into focus. For instance, there is a girl in the middle of this photo -- Click around till you find her. Cool, huh?

Unlike conventional cameras, there is no waiting for your subject to come into focus before taking the shot, since everything in frame can be variably focused in-on and out-of after the fact.  8X optical zoom, and an f/2 aperture so you'll never need a flash in normal lighting conditions.

A new world of interactive product shots awaits!
